March Round Up – Traffic and Income

Well, time is flying and already into my 5th month of DoSEOyourself.com. I feel like I have achieved quite a lot in that time and the blog is moving forward well.

My other online businesses have prevented me from working on this blog 100% of the time but I have achieved my main goals of providing great content!

Every month I publish my traffic and income report so you guys can see how the blog is progressing!

 

What have I been doing?

Last month was all about generating more traffic, and it worked out well as I almost doubled my traffic. This month however I have taken it easy on the promotion side of things for a couple of reasons…

The first week of the month I spent on a golfing holiday in Spain 🙂

When I returned I had issues to resolve with my other online business (and that took up a fair amount of time)

I then spent the remainder of my time creating more content for this blog!

Oh, as well as building out my Private Blog Network. (If you are interested in links from my network, just drop me an email)

 

New posts added to the blog

I managed to publish 4 new posts this month..

http://doseoyourself.com/increased-blog-traffic-1-month/ – In this post I demonstrated all of the methods that I used to increase my traffic by +96.4% in 1 month. There are some great traffic building tips right here!!

http://doseoyourself.com/how-to-increase-your-domain-authority/ – I wasn’t planning on creating this post but I came across a cool infographic and I though it fitted in well with my previous post on expired domains, as this was all about increasing domain authority!

Considered purchasing other websites

Purchasing already established websites is something I have been looking at for a while now, and although I have come across a few that looked ok on Flippa, I have never actually got around to purchase one yet!

Passive income is something that we all strive for, and I think it will be a good idea to include stuff about that on this blog. I will be looking at purchasing websites that are already making money and adding that to my online portfolio.

I read a couple of good articles including this one from David on why should purchase websites, and I also read this article from niche pursuits.

I’ll keep you updated on how I go on with purchasing a website.

 

Not done a great deal

Compared to last month I have not really done a lot this month! After my holiday and time spent on my other business I wasn’t left with much time to be honest.

I have not implemented any other changes to my blog or done any promotion. All of my time has been taken up by reading and writing!

Although I have big plans for DoSEOyourself.com it’s important that I do not get ahead of myself and I stick to my short term goals of Creating great content.

 

Traffic

Here’s the interesting bit 🙂 I didn’t set myself any targets this month as I new I wouldn’t have the time to do any promotion. So lets see how we got on:

Traffic figures down on last month, but that can be expected! As you can see, we had 3,235 visits with 1,673 uniques. Which isn’t bad I suppose!

Our bounce rate has gone up after the miss configuration last month, but it’s still pretty decent.

Where the traffic came from:

 

Very similar to last month with Direct traffic on top spot and BHW being the best referral. My Google search traffic is climbing gradually which is a good sign.

The more content I add the more natural traffic I should get. We just need the blog to pick up some good rankings to boost this. Hopefully this will start to happen soon!

 

Most popular pages

Apart from the home page, our guide on building powerful manual web 2.0’s is the most popular page this month.

Email Sign ups and Social media

This is the most important factor for me and it’s good to see that my followers are increasing each month!

Email subscribers = 94 (+31)

Twitter = 31 (+8)

Google+ = 51

 

Earnings:

So far we have had a very small amount of affiliate income, so not to much expectation here:

HMA = $47

GSA = $15

Affilio = $30

Consultancy  = $170

 

Expenses

WPEngine = $29

 

Total profit = $233

 

Metrics

Something I publish each month are my blogs metrics. I need to increase these to start picking up more search engine traffic.

 

 

My DA remains the same but my PA continues to go up. I need to get more quality back links to the blog to increase my DA.

 

Summary

Considering I didn’t really do anything apart from create a few new posts, the blog traffic remained fairly stable and the profits actually increased!

I did spend time building out my private content blogs which will pay off in the future and the blog seems to be moving along nicely and I will continue to do what I am doing 🙂

 

Plans for next month

You guessed it! I have another holiday booked for 1 week 🙂 I do like travelling if you hadn’t noticed!!

I will be writing some more posts for the blog and I also plan on getting another guest post published on another blog! I have a lot of ideas for new posts and experiments that I will be doing over the next few months!

I also plan to spend a bit more time on the forums as I didn’t really contribute this month. If you have read my post on increasing traffic, you will see that every post I make on a forum equates to around 10 new visitors!!
